as one who has traveled abroad, goto Mexico or Zimbabwe, then you will realize that we are blessed to pay taxes and blessed to live here in this country.
Jeremy - In the winding days of Guiliani's reign, there was a NYC Commuter tax introduced and quickly retracted. I lived in CT for a few months after college before moving to Bklyn. Apparently, the tax wasn't deducted and once I was a resident, the laws changed and it became a residental tax - again, it took my company time to catch up. Hence, the man wants my loot.
Troy - Agreed. This was no hate on USA post. It was a hate on the IRS coveting my already depleted bank account (for Soc Sec etc that I'll never likely see)

I look at my tax deductions all the time. That's why I'm not a Democrat anymore.
Hey T - Look who's been in charge for 12 years. This isn't a Democrat problem. It's a government problem.
I just wrote two checks to the Feds yesterday for a total of $3600. Ouch.
Jeremy,
I feel your pain. NY State recently contacted me and claim I owe them close to that amount for 1999 and 2000. Gah...
I used to look at my pay stub, but it depressed me... so I stopped!
Z - that's crazy. Where is that coming from? Did you get audited? What a bunch of punks.
