Thank You

While I hope everyone enjoyed the good weather, beach and BBQs this weekend, please take a minute to give respect to all the men and women who've given their lives so that we can enjoy the rights we do today.

In Iraq alone 3,435 Americans, two Australians, 149 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, seven Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, one Hungarian, 32 Italians, one Kazakh, three Latvian, 19 Poles, two Romanians, five Salvadoran, four Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians have given their lives as of May 24, 2007.

Z sends some love and gratitude to all those who have given the ultimate sacrifice, from the Revolutionary War to those who fought in Caves or Sand.

Solemn Anniversary

Four years ago today, the Iraq War began.

"Just after the war began, 72 percent of Americans said they favored the war; today only 32 percent do." - CNN

3,217 American soldiers have lost their lives and nearly 25,000 have been wounded. According to the website IraqBodyCount.org, at least 59,287 Iraqi civilians have been killed by military intervention alone, not counting the numerous suicide bombs and terrorist attacks plaguing the country which is slowly spiraling into civil war.

Let's hope a solution to ending this war is found soon.

Godspeed Harry

Britian's Daily Mirror reported today that my favorite and feisty Royal, Prince Harry, will be deployed to Iraq by the end of the month. The Prince, in typical fashion, is likely taking the news in stride.

"Harry, who graduated last year from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, said in a 2005 interview that he was keen to fight for his country.

'There's no way I'm going to put myself through Sandhurst and then sit on my arse back home while my boys are out fighting for their country.' " - AP

I know the 22 year old is well trained, but I can't help but to feel nervous at hearing this news. Maybe it's because he's about my little brother's age and I think of him in that way. It's silly to feel protective of a boy I've never met, I know, but I cannot help it.
